This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this June 19, 2018 conversation, Ken Urker and Gypsy Rose Blanchard have an extremely revealing discussion about their relationship, Ken's plans to move closer to her, Gypsy's family, the media attention surrounding her case, and Gypsy's recent conversation with Sebastian. The call begins with Ken giving Gypsy a major reassurance. After talking with his mother about Gypsy and her past, he tells her: “You never have to worry about me leaving or abandoning you.” He says he plans on being there “forever” and wants Gypsy to know she will always be able to count on him. They then return to Ken's proposed move to Missouri. Gypsy admits that watching Ken work so much to afford the move is making her feel guilty. She tells him she doesn't want him working himself sick because he's afraid their long-distance relationship won't survive. Ken insists that moving isn't something Gypsy is forcing him to do. He says there is nothing he wants more than to be closer to her and tells her: “You have become the most important thing in my life to me.” They begin imagining their future together. Gypsy admits people tell her she lives in a “fantasy world,” and she describes escaping mentally by imagining herself and Ken somewhere together, even suggesting a cabin in the woods, Alaska or Canada. Ken takes it even further: “I wanna fucking marry you one day.” He tells Gypsy that when he imagines the future, he doesn't think about his life anymore. He thinks about their life. But then the conversation takes a major turn. Ken finally tells Gypsy some feelings he says he's been holding back about Rod and Kristy. Ken says he doesn't believe Rod does enough for Gypsy and questions why Rod wasn't more involved when everyone believed Gypsy was seriously ill. He also criticizes the amount of attention Kristy gives interviews, documentaries and television projects. His biggest point comes when he asks: “Why am I the person who answers your phone calls the most? Who the fuck am I?” Ken says he has only known Gypsy for about a year and believes he “should not be the number one person” answering her calls. In his view, her family should be providing more of that support. Gypsy's response is particularly interesting. She says she had lowered her standards so much when it came to keeping people in her life that there was a point when she was simply grateful for anyone who would answer her calls. She also tells Ken that her cousin Tiffany had previously raised concerns to her about Kristy's involvement with the attention surrounding Gypsy's story. These are allegations and personal opinions expressed during the call, not independently established facts. Then comes Sebastian. Gypsy tells Ken about the June 17 conversation we just went through. She explains that Sebastian told her how badly their breakup affected him and that he had taken it hard when she got a new boyfriend. And Gypsy makes a pretty revealing admission about the timeline of her relationships: “After Sebastian there was Robert, and after Robert there was you, so it's like back to back to back.” #KenUrker #GypsyRoseBlanchard #GypsyRose #KenUrker #KristyBlanchard #RodBlanchard #Sebastian #GypsyAndKen #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #TrueCrimeYouTube #GypsyRoseCalls #MissouriDOC #GypsyRoseCase #TheBlanchardFiles #GypsyRoseBlanchardCase
