This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this May 10, 2018 call, Gypsy calls Kristy while trying to figure out when she can speak with Francesca. But before they hang up, Kristy learns something about Ken that Gypsy says he hadn't immediately told her. At the beginning, Gypsy explains that she had tried calling Ken simply because she wanted to tell him she loved him: “I just wanted to give him a quick call to tell him I love him. That's all.” She asks Kristy to text Ken and reassure him that nothing is wrong, because she knows he may worry when she unexpectedly tries to reach him. Gypsy is finally getting new shoes A good portion of the call is about the shoes we've heard Gypsy discussing in previous calls. The prison's shoe try-on day had already happened, so Gypsy says she may have to ask her boss for permission to briefly leave work so she can try them on and place her order. Kristy says she already talked to Rod about it and told him she didn't want Gypsy buying the cheap pair: “I told her not to get the shitty ones, to get the good ones.” Kristy's reasoning is that spending more on a durable pair makes more sense than repeatedly replacing cheaper shoes. Gypsy says she wears her regular shoes almost constantly because she hates the heavy prison boots: “I feel like I'm carrying... two kids on my legs.” 😂 Then Gypsy tells Kristy about Ken Near the end, Gypsy asks Kristy to send Ken a message: “Let him know that nothing's wrong. I just want to tell him I love him.” She wants Kristy to tell him to have a good day and not stress himself out at work. Then Gypsy asks: “Did he tell you that he was sick, coughing up blood?” Kristy says no. Gypsy explains that Ken had been dealing with a bad cough/cold and says he told her he'd coughed up blood badly enough that he went to the hospital. According to what Ken told Gypsy, doctors believed the blood came from irritation or an injury to his throat caused by coughing so hard. Gypsy says he'd already had a follow-up appointment and was doing better.
