This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this June 25, 2018 conversation, Gypsy Rose Blanchard calls Ken Urker after getting upset with him the previous night when he failed to answer her calls. Ken immediately acknowledges that he missed Gypsy's calls and apologizes, explaining that he didn't intentionally ignore her. He simply didn't notice the calls until later. Gypsy admits she was angry enough that she stayed up writing Ken an entire “ranting letter.” But as she talks through what happened, Gypsy acknowledges that Ken wasn't really the source of her anger. She tells him she was blaming him for things that weren't his fault and says there was a “deeper reason” behind why she became so upset. Gypsy explains that she's frustrated with her circumstances, tired of being incarcerated and wants to be home. Missing the opportunity to speak with Ken brought those feelings to the surface. She admits she was still mad at Ken for not answering his phone and says she remained angry throughout the night, staying awake until around midnight writing the letter. The biggest frustration was that Gypsy couldn't simply try Ken again later. Because of the facility's schedule and lockdown/count time, she had lost her opportunity to get back on the phone. Gypsy ultimately tells Ken that she realizes none of that was his fault. Ken tells her that he hates the situation too and apologizes for missing her calls. He also reassures Gypsy that he's off work the following day, so she'll be able to reach him. Before they hang up, Ken tells Gypsy he has “a lot of things” he wants to talk to her about the following day, but assures her they're “all good things” and that she has nothing to worry about. Gypsy also reveals that she mailed Ken one of their pictures along with a letter, but jokingly clarifies that she sent him the nice letter, not the angry one. The call ends with the two exchanging “I love you” and agreeing to talk again the following day.
