This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this May 14, 2018 call, Gypsy and Kristy catch up about family, relationships, Gypsy's new hairstyle and another missed opportunity for Gypsy to speak with Francesca. Kristy starts by telling Gypsy that she had her damaged toenail removed. While she was at the appointment, she showed the doctor and nurse a newer picture of Gypsy. One of them reportedly remembered Gypsy primarily from the older images of her with short hair and commented on how different she looks now. Gypsy changed her hair again That leads directly into Gypsy talking about her own hair. She previously had long layers and a long side bang, but says she didn't like how the bang looked. At cosmetology, she decided to change it into a full bang. Gypsy jokes: “I look like the 50 Shades of Grey girl.” 😂 That could easily be a Short. “Riley broke up with Dylan.” Then Kristy drops the major family news: “Riley broke up with Dylan.” Gypsy is immediately surprised and asks whether it's permanent this time. Kristy says it appears to be because Riley took all of her belongings this time. Kristy explains that she talked with Riley and told her that if she left this time, she shouldn't keep coming back because: “Y'all... you're not good for each other.” Later, she describes them as: “toxic for each other.” Dylan cries after she leaves According to Kristy, Dylan initially tries to act like he's okay. But after Riley leaves: “He was crying.” And he tells Kristy: “I can't wait till Dad's home.” Kristy says Rod is expected home soon, possibly Thursday or Friday. There's another layer to this because the breakup happens around Dylan's birthday. Gypsy asks Kristy to wish him the best Happy Birthday possible under the circumstances. “He shouldn’t have done what he did.” Gypsy and Kristy don't simply blame Riley for the breakup. Kristy says they later learned Dylan had apparently admitted to talking to someone else. Gypsy's response is pretty straightforward: “He's my brother, but he shouldn't have did what he did.” Kristy agrees: “He's my son. I love him no matter what, but he shouldn't have done what he did.” I actually like that exchange because they're supportive of Dylan while still saying he has responsibility for what happened. They ultimately hope he focuses on himself and his job rather than immediately worrying about another relationship. Gypsy still hasn't connected with Fancy At the end, Gypsy brings up Francesca/Fancy. She was supposed to call her the night before, but because it was Mother's Day, so many people were using the phones that Gypsy couldn't get back on after speaking with Kristy. Gypsy says she tried calling Francesca again on May 14, but there was no answer.
