This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

This recording contains two calls from May 18 and May 19, 2018, as Gypsy talks with Rod and Kristy shortly after Rod returns home from a long work trip. In the first call, Gypsy gets a chance to briefly catch up with her dad after Kristy picks him up from the airport. She tells Rod about her new job working with the prison photography program, joking that she's now “the picture girl.” They also begin discussing when Rod and Kristy might finally come visit her. The second call goes much deeper. Gypsy talks with Rod about Ken's upcoming move, telling her dad that Ken plans to leave on June 7, initially staying with his stepfather before finding a place around Kansas City. She also tells Rod that Ken is extremely nervous about finally meeting him. Rod is open to the idea but says he'd actually like to meet Ken before they all visit Gypsy together. He suggests meeting him in a normal setting, possibly having dinner or a beer and getting to know him first. Gypsy tells Rod that Ken has been “really, really good to me.” Rod responds that if Ken makes Gypsy happy and treats her right, he's happy for her, although he admits he'll probably have some questions for him. Gypsy also tells her dad about the recent drama with her roommates, including claims that Ken secretly had a blog and was only involved with Gypsy to get information for a book. Gypsy says she eventually learned the things she had been told weren't true and admits the situation left her hurt and confused. She tells Rod she's trying to stop listening to negativity because it puts her “in a bad place.” But one of the most striking moments comes when Gypsy explains why Ken's upcoming June visit is so important to her. She tells Rod: “The 10th is the anniversary of Mom’s death.” Gypsy says Ken specifically wants to be with her during that weekend “for support.” She expects him to visit June 8, 9 and 10, meaning he'll be there with her as the anniversary of Dee Dee's death arrives.
