This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this April 12, 2018 prison call, Gypsy Rose Blanchard tells Kristy about a rumor spreading among the women at Chillicothe Correctional Center involving Dr. Phil. According to Gypsy, the rumor had passed from one inmate to another and claimed that Dr. Phil was “taking on” her case and wanted to help her. But Gypsy immediately questions whether the story could be true. She points out: “Number one, I’m like, he’s not an attorney, so how can he take on my case? And he’s a TV show host.” Gypsy then brings up paperwork she says she signed in connection with Dr. Phil: “I signed a disclosure thingy about, like, he can’t give me any personal help himself.” She explains that, according to her understanding of the paperwork, Dr. Phil himself couldn't personally provide assistance, although “he has, like, his team to do that.” That's one of the reasons Gypsy believes the story circulating in prison may simply be a rumor. Kristy hasn't heard anything about Dr. Phil taking on Gypsy's case either. They wonder whether someone may have seen Gypsy's Dr. Phil appearance and misunderstood his statement at the end that he was going to “help” her. The conversation also includes another major update about Ken Urker's planned move to Missouri. Gypsy tells Kristy that Ken is pursuing a bartending position in the Kansas City area and that they're now looking at approximately the second week of May for his move. Gypsy also reveals that she suggested Liberty, Missouri to Ken because it would put him near Kansas City while also keeping him relatively close to her. Ken researched Liberty, liked what he found, and Gypsy tells Kristy that it will “probably be Liberty that he'll be moving to.” Gypsy also updates Kristy on her ICVC class. After covering child abuse, the class has moved into elder abuse, and Gypsy has been assigned to do something kind for an elderly inmate. The following day, participants are scheduled to take part in a balloon release in remembrance of victims. #GypsyRoseBlanchard #GypsyRose #DrPhil #KristyBlanchard #PrisonCalls #TheBlanchardFiles #TrueCrime #PrisonAudio #DeeDeeBlanchard #TrueCrimeCommunity #KenUrker #ChillicotheCorrectionalCenter
