This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

On June 28, 2018, Gypsy Rose Blanchard calls Kristy Blanchard and tells her about a bizarre letter she received from a man incarcerated at another Missouri facility. The conversation begins much more casually. Gypsy has just finished working out and tells Kristy that her arms are extremely sore. She also reveals that a recent haircut went terribly wrong. Gypsy says she only wanted approximately half an inch trimmed, but believes the woman cutting her hair took off closer to two inches. Even worse, Gypsy says one side was left noticeably longer than the other. She now plans to either return to cosmetology or find someone else she trusts to fix it. But then Gypsy changes subjects: “I got the craziest freaking letter from like a psycho dude.” According to Gypsy, the letter came from a man incarcerated at another Missouri facility who had previously written to her after seeing her on television. Gypsy describes portions of what he allegedly wrote, including: “If it’s the last thing I do, I’m gonna be with you.” “I’m gonna wait for you for the rest of my life.” And perhaps the strangest: “Frankly, I’m obsessed with you.” Gypsy calls it one of the creepiest and most obsessive letters she has ever received. Kristy's immediate response is protective, asking Gypsy if she needs her to “handle that.” They discuss whether the situation could become concerning once the man is released, although Gypsy points out that he wouldn't automatically know where she was living. The conversation then shifts to Jenner Smith. Gypsy tells Kristy that she spoke with Jenner, and Kristy says Jenner had already contacted her afterward. According to Kristy, Jenner was happy to hear how well Gypsy was doing, and Gypsy says the two had a good conversation. The remainder of the call is much more ordinary. Gypsy discusses celebrating her roommate's birthday and recovering from her workout, while Kristy talks about going to the gym herself, dealing with physical pain, the humid weather and upcoming family plans. Kristy also discusses plans involving her newly discovered brother and possibly meeting his daughter. The call ends with Kristy encouraging Gypsy to push through the soreness from her workout before the two exchange “I love you” and say goodbye.
