2018 Gypsy Rose Blanchard: The Prison Calls

This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

Currently Playing: “I NEVER STOPPED LOVING YOU” | Gypsy Reconnects With Ex Sebastian While Dating Ken | 06/17/2018

In this June 17, 2018 conversation, Gypsy Rose Blanchard reconnects with Sebastian, someone she previously had a romantic relationship with, while she was involved with Ken Urker. Almost immediately, Sebastian admits that he had struggled emotionally after their relationship ended. He tells Gypsy: “I loved you with everything I had, Gypsy. I really did. And I thought we were gonna make it.” Gypsy responds: “I love you too, and I never stopped loving you.” Gypsy apologizes for hurting him and reflects on why their relationship didn't work. She says that after taking ICVC classes and growing over the previous nine months, she realized she had been immature and perhaps wasn't ready for everything they had planned together. Sebastian tells her that what matters is that she made the decision she believed was best for her while incarcerated. But then the conversation gets even more interesting. Sebastian tells Gypsy that although he would love for them to remain close friends, part of him still wants an intimate relationship with her. Gypsy doesn't completely shut down the possibility of something happening between them in the future. She tells him: “You don't know ever what's gonna happen in the future.” She says she doesn't know whether she'll still be with someone when she's released and wants to see where life takes her. Sebastian even says he'd still like to attend her homecoming celebration and meet her family. They also revisit drama involving Rachel, including things Rachel allegedly told Gypsy about Sebastian and other women. Sebastian gives his side and says he believes he knows where the misunderstanding originated. Sebastian also reveals that he may be facing several months of incarceration or treatment after smoking marijuana while dealing with problems in his personal life. Later, Gypsy tells him that if he does end up incarcerated again, she wants to be someone he can lean on. At one point she begins blaming herself for his situation, but Sebastian immediately corrects her and says his decisions had “absolutely nothing to do with you at all.” By the end, they agree they want to communicate regularly again through letters, calls and eventually email once Gypsy receives access to a tablet. They end the conversation by exchanging “love you.” DISCLAIMER: This audio was obtained from the Missouri Department of Corrections through a Missouri Sunshine Law public-record request.
