This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this May 27, 2018 call between Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Kristy Blanchard, the conversation eventually turns to Michelle Dean and the media project surrounding Gypsy's story. Kristy tells Gypsy she plans to write an email to Michelle explaining how the continued project is affecting Gypsy. Kristy says she intends to tell Michelle that the situation is causing Gypsy significant stress and panic attacks and remind her that she had previously described the story as Gypsy's to tell. Gypsy agrees and explains what she had believed: “I assumed that without our participation... she was not gonna push forward with it.” Gypsy says she doesn't believe Michelle should have continued and also worries that the project could interfere with what Francesca/Fancy was trying to develop. Kristy says she wants to take a “subtle approach” first and see how Michelle responds. But she becomes increasingly critical, saying that if Michelle truly cared about Gypsy, she wouldn't continue with something that Kristy believes makes Gypsy's incarceration more difficult. Later, after the call briefly gets transferred to Rod's truck through Bluetooth, Gypsy and Kristy return to the Michelle conversation. They discuss their previous interactions with Michelle, including Gypsy saying there had been no paperwork for her to sign during their visit. Gypsy and Kristy speculate about why that was, but those are their interpretations rather than an established explanation. Kristy then says: “We’re gonna try to squash it.” Gypsy responds: “I appreciate it.” Kristy says she no longer has Michelle's information but plans to try contacting her again and see whether she responds.
