This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

Four calls. Two men. One day. On June 20, 2018, Gypsy Rose Blanchard speaks with Sebastian and Ken Urker in four separate conversations, alternating between them throughout the day. The first call is with Sebastian. He tells Gypsy that he received a new probation officer and apparently will not have to go back, something Gypsy says she had been extremely worried about. Gypsy then shares her own major news: she officially graduated from her ICVC class, received her certificate, completed an apology letter to Dee Dee, and was told she may be recommended to become a facilitator for future classes. Then Gypsy calls Ken. Ken has just gotten off work after what he describes as a terrible, chaotic day. Gypsy tells him she nearly received a violation over a pair of lounge pants she had altered because they were too long. She was ultimately given a warning. Gypsy again talks about graduating from ICVC and tells Ken about the apology letter she wrote to Dee Dee. She says her letter was selected as an example for future classes and that she may become a facilitator. Ken tells her how proud and happy he is for her. But then Ken brings up what he said the previous day about Rod and Kristy. After criticizing them during the June 19 call, Ken now says he feels bad about some of what he said. He acknowledges that he isn't a parent and doesn't fully know their circumstances. Gypsy, however, tells him not to backtrack. She says she appreciated his honesty and tells him: “You were right on the money.” They also address the Sebastian conversation. Gypsy reassures Ken that she isn't a cheater and isn't telling him things simply to make him jealous. Ken says he never believed she was playing with his emotions. Their conversation then becomes much lighter. They discuss Ken's upcoming move, their recent pictures, his work schedule, smartphones, what they'll do together someday, movie nights, cooking, camping, and what everyday life together could look like. Then it's back to Sebastian. Gypsy talks with Sebastian about food, future visits and the near-violation involving her pants. Sebastian tells her he's preparing to be the best man in his brother Steven's wedding, and they discuss his upcoming move and staying in better contact. Finally, Gypsy calls Ken again before bed. This last conversation is short, but probably the most romantic of the four. They talk about honesty and communication in their relationship. Gypsy tells Ken she wants him to feel comfortable telling her anything, even if it might upset her. She acknowledges that their relationship won't always be “rainbows and sunshine” and says they need to communicate when they're angry rather than screaming at each other. Then Gypsy tells Ken: “You are the fucking light of my life.” She calls him her “one and only” and says he's the only person she thinks about “24/7.” Ken tells her he feels exactly the same way and says he doesn't see that ever changing. They exchange kisses before ending the night.
