This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this short May 28, 2018 call between Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker, Gypsy calls Ken before bed to tell him she loves him and talk briefly about their upcoming visits. Gypsy is excited because Kristy and Rod are only about four days away from visiting, while Ken's own visit is also quickly approaching. Ken then tells Gypsy that Kristy sent him the message she had written to Michelle Dean. His reaction is immediate: “Damn... that was bold.” He tells Gypsy he thought Kristy's message was “freaking awesome” and says he loved it. But Gypsy has another media surprise. She explains that she recently learned she was going to be featured on an Oxygen Network program called Killer Kids. According to Gypsy, nobody contacted her about the program. Instead, her roommate saw a commercial, told her to turn on Oxygen, and Gypsy suddenly saw herself and Nick Godejohn on the television. Gypsy says: “I had no idea about it.” Ken responds: “Well, I wonder what else is to come.” Considering all of the conversations surrounding Michelle Dean and The Act in the calls immediately before this one, Gypsy appears to be trying to accept that additional programs may continue appearing. She tells Ken: “It’s okay. We’ll make it. I won’t have a nervous breakdown, I promise.” Ken tells her to call him if she begins feeling overwhelmed. The remainder of the call is mostly casual conversation. Ken reveals he's in the middle of a 13-hour work shift, and Gypsy jokes about whether he can have a beer at work. Ken makes it clear that's a major no.
