This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

On July 14, 2018, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has another revealing recorded conversation with Bryan Golden from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. This time, Gypsy and Bryan are making detailed plans for him to visit her in person. Bryan begins by asking how many miles separate them because he needs the exact distance for the prison's special visitation requirements. Gypsy explains that she has spoken with her caseworker and believes they can arrange a special visit as long as the sessions aren't scheduled on consecutive weekends. They begin working through the possibilities. Should Bryan arrive Friday afternoon? Should they arrange another visit Saturday? Could they possibly receive three visitation sessions instead of two? Bryan makes it clear that if he's traveling all the way to Missouri, he wants to spend as much time with Gypsy as possible. They discuss airfare, rental cars, hotels, the Kansas City airport and the possibility of visiting during the last weekend of August or the beginning of September. The conversation then becomes increasingly flirtatious. Gypsy and Bryan joke about prison visitation rules, the possibility of conjugal visits and pregnancy. They also discuss a television program about incarcerated mothers who are permitted to care for their babies and another series, Love After Lockup. Bryan shares his thoughts about relationships surviving incarceration, while Gypsy talks about the importance of having people who understand what life inside prison is like. She tells Bryan that she values having someone she can trust with her frustrations and personal experiences. Later, Gypsy describes an incident involving ants in her prison locker and explains the unusual methods she used to keep them away. The conversation moves to Bryan's appearance, including his longer hair and whether he should grow it out for a Viking costume. But things take another suggestive turn when Gypsy discusses other incarcerated women encouraging her to sound sexy while talking to men. That leads to jokes about phone sex, video visitation and the possibility of performing for an audience. Gypsy and Bryan even joke about selling an explicit video for a large amount of money. Toward the end of the conversation, Bryan asks Gypsy about her possible parole date. She explains that she expects to appear before the parole board in 2021 and believes her possible release could come in 2023. Gypsy reflects on how difficult it is to wait for the future and says she's learning to appreciate each day rather than constantly planning ahead. The call ends with Bryan promising to research travel prices and confirm when he can visit. What makes this recording particularly interesting is the larger timeline. On July 6, Gypsy discussed the possibility of Bryan visiting without Ken knowing. On July 10, she announced Bryan had been approved to visit, and their conversation became increasingly intimate. Now, on July 14, they're working out the actual travel arrangements and joking about sexual topics. And all of this is happening while Gypsy is still in a relationship with Ken Urker.
