This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

On July 14, 2018, Gypsy Rose Blanchard calls Ken Urker from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, excited to share news about her new responsibilities. Gypsy has finally started working in the prison visitation photography department! After previous scheduling problems delayed her training, Gypsy explains that she spent the morning shadowing another employee named Nina and learning how to process photographs for incarcerated women and their visitors. She describes the job as faster-paced than her usual photography work in general population, although only about five people purchased photographs during the session. Gypsy also talks about the correctional officers supervising visitation, including an officer named Jackson. Ken recalls his own interactions with Jackson during previous visits. He explains that although the officer was strict about the rules, he doesn't believe she personally disliked him. In fact, Ken admits that the warnings she gave him were fair and says the only time he saw her upset was when he and Gypsy were caught doing something they shouldn't have been doing. The couple also discusses a man working in visitation whom Ken describes as unusually quiet. Gypsy then asks whether Ken has received the manila envelope and letter she mailed earlier in the week. She explains that the envelope contains visitation rules and a certificate. Ken hasn't received the package yet but expects it to arrive soon. Later, Gypsy tells Ken that Rod Blanchard has returned home after traveling and that she recently spoke with Kristy. With her photography duties finished for the weekend, Gypsy plans to relax and watch a Harry Potter marathon with Jelly. Meanwhile, Ken describes his exhausting bartending schedule. He explains that he worked until the early morning hours, got very little sleep, and is already heading back to work for another long shift. Before ending the call, Ken asks Gypsy to contact him Monday because he might finally have a day off. The couple exchanges affectionate goodbyes. Although this recording doesn't contain a major confrontation, it offers another look at the couple's relationship, their previous difficulties during visitation, and Gypsy's growing responsibilities inside the correctional facility. What do you think Ken meant when he acknowledged that they had been caught doing something during visitation?
