This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this May 2, 2018 call, Gypsy Rose Blanchard calls Kristy excited about changes at Chillicothe, but the conversation quickly turns to Ken Urker and another delay in his plans to move to Missouri. Gypsy can barely contain herself at the beginning: “Oh my God, they have reinstated food visits!” She also says a video visitation kiosk has been installed right by her door and believes tablets may be coming soon. Her first request to Kristy is to text Ken ASAP and tell him the news. Because Gypsy says she's been violation-free for more than 90 days, she believes she'll be eligible to apply for a food visit. She says Ken has already talked about bringing her different foods, including McDonald's fries. Ken's move gets pushed back AGAIN Then Kristy asks about Ken's upcoming interview. Gypsy explains: “Right now, he doesn't have enough money to move right now. He doesn't have enough saved.” Because of that, she says Ken needs to contact Ameristar and see if they'll push things back a month. His new projected move? June. Gypsy says: “He wants to definitely move here in June because he knows June's a difficult month for me.” That's particularly interesting after the sequence we've already heard: 04/25: Gypsy complains that the move keeps becoming “next month.” 04/26: Ken promises he'll be there by June and says he won't postpone it again. 04/27: Gypsy's roommates question whether she's manipulating Ken into moving closer. 05/01: Ken is still talking about what he'll do “after I move to Missouri.” 05/02: Gypsy tells Kristy he doesn't have enough money saved and has to push things back. That's a really clean ongoing storyline. Gypsy wants Ken to stop sending her so much money This part is also interesting. Gypsy estimates Ken sends her approximately $300 per month, saying he puts $150 on her account twice a month. She tells Kristy she wants to talk to Ken about reducing that: “I wanna do my part to help save money.” Gypsy suggests he could send her $100 instead of $300, allowing him to put the other $200 toward moving expenses. That connects directly to the 04/25 call where Gypsy told Ken not to send her any more money because she'd rather he save it for the move. Tomorrow is difficult for Gypsy Toward the end, Kristy asks: “So you gonna be okay tomorrow?” Gypsy says she's going to try to stay active and keep her mind occupied. Then she says: “I think what would help is I maybe like talk to her or maybe write a letter or something.” She says people have told her journaling is therapeutic, so she thinks she may write a letter.
