This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

June 12, 2018. Just two days after Ken Urker's three-day visit with Gypsy Rose Blanchard ends, the behavior they were worried could get them in trouble has officially been reported. Gypsy calls Ken with what she describes as “really, really bad news.” “Someone snitched on us.” According to Gypsy, someone reported what happened during their visit and she was called into the unit manager's office. Gypsy admits she initially started to lie about what happened, but when she was told staff could review the footage, she decided to be honest. Gypsy says she begged staff not to suspend Ken's visitation, even offering to accept punishment herself. “You're my ride or die, so if I lose you, I lose everything.” According to Gypsy, neither she nor Ken would be suspended, but visitation staff would now be told to watch them more closely. And Gypsy decides she isn't telling Kristy what happened. Later, the conversation takes a completely different turn when Gypsy reads Ken an assignment she wrote for her class. The letter is written from the perspective of Dee Dee Blanchard and imagines what Dee Dee might say directly to Gypsy about her murder. Gypsy explains that this portion of the class requires her to confront accountability and describes it as the part where things become “raw and deep.” The visitation scare also forces Gypsy and Ken to seriously discuss what would happen to their relationship if they suddenly weren't allowed to see each other. After several days of joking about pushing the rules, June 12 appears to be the moment when they realize those consequences could actually become real.
