This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this May 30, 2018 call between Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker, Gypsy gets the news she has been waiting for: Ken's special visit has officially been approved. Gypsy tells Ken she's excited because they're only about a week away from seeing each other. But there's a problem. Kristy doesn't know the special visit was approved. Gypsy says she expects Kristy to ask about it, and reveals exactly what she plans to tell her: “I’m gonna be like, ‘Oh, you know, it didn’t get approved because I can only have so many within a year.’” Ken even jokes that he accidentally told Kristy he would be visiting Gypsy for both sessions all three days, temporarily sending Gypsy into a panic before admitting he was kidding. They calculate that the special visitation arrangement could give Gypsy and Ken approximately 24 hours together over three days. Later, Ken brings up their previous conversation about whether he should move to Kansas City. He jokingly tells Gypsy: “Even after you broke my heart last week and you’re like, ‘Don’t come anymore.’” Gypsy immediately explains again that wasn't what she meant. Then she finally explains the fear underneath all of her questions about his move: “My biggest fear is that you move to Kansas City and then you break up with me.” Gypsy says she's afraid Ken could end up stuck somewhere he doesn't like, resenting both the city and her. Ken says if they hypothetically broke up, he simply wouldn't stay there. He also tells her that although his father is another reason for moving to the area, Gypsy is the much bigger reason. Gypsy admits she probably talks and worries about the move more than Ken does and says she's finally going to stop obsessing over it: “I’m just gonna let you do your thing.” She says she'll support whatever he decides. The conversation then turns toward communication in their relationship. Ken tells Gypsy he doesn't want her hiding her actual feelings simply to protect his: “I don’t want you to sugarcoat everything, ’cause then I’ll never know what’s really going on.” Gypsy promises to become more assertive and says: “I won’t sugarcoat shit. I’m gonna be open and honest.” That leads to a lighter exchange where Gypsy warns Ken: “You haven’t experienced the crazy yet.” Ken jokingly responds that he wants to see some of that “drama” and “fire.” #GypsyRoseBlanchard #GypsyRose #KenUrker #KristyBlanchard #RodBlanchard #GypsyAndKen #GypsyRosePrisonCalls #PrisonPhoneCalls #PrisonCalls #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #TrueCrimeYouTube #FOIA #TheBlanchardFiles #ChillicotheCorrectionalCenter
