This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this May 23, 2018 Gypsy Rose Blanchard call with Ken Urker, Gypsy continues opening up about her frustration with the media attention surrounding her case and the interviews being done by people around her. Gypsy tells Ken that she is doing better than during their previous conversation, but she is still disappointed that interviews are continuing without her approval. She says she spoke to Kristy and Rod while on speakerphone and tried to explain the anxiety the situation was causing her. According to Gypsy, Rod remained quiet while Kristy attributed some of Gypsy's anxiety to the approaching anniversary of Dee Dee Blanchard's death. Ken tells Gypsy that he doesn't think her feelings should simply be dismissed because of the anniversary. Gypsy says she's been in the spotlight for three years and has been telling Ken for months that she's tired of it. She explains that programs airing about her case create problems inside prison because other inmates see them and give her a hard time. “I just am done with it. I feel like my story has been told and I'd like to move on.” Then the conversation takes an interesting turn when Gypsy brings up the Turpin family case. She and Ken discuss the interviews and book surrounding that case, and Ken compares the situation to Kristy's involvement in interviews about Gypsy. These are Ken and Gypsy's opinions in the call, not established conclusions about the Turpin family or Kristy. Later, Ken says he had wanted to speak with Kristy himself about the media situation. He says Gypsy keeps trying to pull away from publicity while continued interviews keep bringing attention back to her. Ken describes the media as “vultures” focused on ratings and money. Gypsy also discusses Francesca/Fancy's planned scripted series. According to Gypsy, Rod and Kristy had signed a contract involving a percentage from the project, while Gypsy says she herself didn't have to sign anything and would mainly answer Francesca's questions. But Gypsy makes her feelings clear: “I owe nothing to no one. I don't owe anyone an explanation.” The call isn't all serious. Ken vents about his stressful job, an expensive Uber ride caused by a Taylor Swift concert, and his upcoming trip to see Gypsy. He says he's still planning to return to Seattle after the visit, get everything together, and then make the move on a one-way ticket. Gypsy and Ken also start imagining their life after her release, including the possibility of living together in Austin, Texas, where Ken has family. Gypsy likes the idea because Texas would still leave her within driving distance of her family in Louisiana. #GypsyRoseBlanchard #GypsyRose #KenUrker #KristyBlanchard #RodBlanchard #DeeDeeBlanchard #TurpinFamily #TurpinCase #GypsyRosePrisonCalls #PrisonPhoneCalls #PrisonCalls #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #FOIA #TheBlanchardFiles
