2018 Gypsy Rose Blanchard: The Prison Calls

This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

Currently Playing: “DO YOU HAVE A BLOG ABOUT ME?” | Gypsy Confronts Ken After Days of Investigating | 05/07/2018

After days of privately questioning what she'd been told about Ken, Gypsy finally asks him directly. In this May 7, 2018 call, Ken starts by telling Gypsy that his plans are moving forward. He says he's “for sure” coming the following month and plans to visit June 8, 9 and 10. He says he can feel the change coming and can't wait to finally be closer to her. But Gypsy has something else on her mind. She tells Ken she's had “a rough couple of days,” but initially refuses to explain because other people are around her. When she admits that the problem involves him, Ken immediately becomes worried and starts pressing her to tell him what's happening. Finally, Gypsy asks: “Are you into journalism?” She tells him she's been given information claiming he has a blog documenting their relationship and that he isn't who he says he is. Then she reveals the allegation that's been bothering her: “You're using me to write a story.” Ken responds Ken immediately and emphatically denies it: “That is 100% completely fucking false.” He says he doesn't even own a computer at the time, doesn't have a blog and has no interest in journalism. He is especially disturbed by the suggestion that he could be pretending to love Gypsy simply to get a story: “That sounds like the most horrible, terrible fucking thing a person could do.” Gypsy tells him she didn't believe the allegation in her heart, but admits she asked Kristy to investigate him anyway. She tells Ken: “She Googled you.” Gypsy says she needed Kristy to double-check because discovering Ken was actually using her would “devastate” her. “Don’t you dare!” Here's the funny part considering the Kristy call from the same date. Ken says he's going to text Kristy as soon as they hang up. Gypsy immediately says: “Don't you dare. Don't you dare!” Which is especially interesting because Kristy had just been saying she didn't want Ken tipped off while they were still looking into everything. Gypsy admits part of her believed it Ken asks why Gypsy didn't call him immediately. Gypsy admits: “A small part of me, like my head, maybe believed it for a second.” But she says she'd also seen him as genuine throughout their relationship. Eventually she admits the information came from her roommate, who claimed her husband had looked Ken up. Ken says he actually feels somewhat better after learning where the allegations originated because the roommate herself couldn't verify them. “I don’t trust this girl.” Gypsy explains why she involved Kristy: “I don't trust this girl.” She says she wanted someone she trusted to tell her whether something was actually happening behind her back. And this line sums up the whole storyline: “If something sneaky is going on behind my back, I wanna know about it.” But she follows that by saying: “I don't feel it in my heart that it is.” Ken points to his Missouri move Ken then argues that the allegation doesn't make sense given what he's doing. He points out that he's planning to uproot his life and move to Missouri after maintaining a long-distance relationship and enduring the six-month visitation suspension. Sarcastically, he asks whether he's supposedly: “Gonna uproot my life and move to Missouri... because it's gonna make my blog more interesting?” By the end, Ken tells Gypsy Kristy can research him as much as she wants because, according to him, she isn't going to find the alleged blog. #GypsyRoseBlanchard #GypsyRose #KenUrker #PrisonCalls #PrisonPhoneCalls #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #TrueCrimeYouTube #GypsyRosePrisonCalls #BlanchardCase #TrueCrimeDiscussion #CrimeTok #TrueCrimeTok #KenAndGypsy #TheBlanchardFiles
