This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this April 14, 2018 prison call, Kristy Blanchard and Gypsy Rose discuss family updates, another documentary being made about Gypsy, Gypsy's new prison job, and Kristy's recent conversation with Ken about his visit with Gypsy. Kristy tells Gypsy that Investigation Discovery commissioned Lightbox to produce a feature-length documentary titled “Gypsy's Revenge.” As Kristy begins reading information about the project, Gypsy immediately reacts to the title: “I don't care about the title. I'm telling you that right now. I don't like it.” Kristy asks whether she should tell someone involved with the documentary that Gypsy isn't happy with the name. Gypsy tells her not to say anything, explaining that she wants them to watch the finished documentary first. She remembers initially not liking the title of another project either, but changing her opinion after seeing it. Gypsy says she thinks the interviews will still make the new documentary good regardless of its title. Gypsy then gives Kristy some news of her own. She says she has gotten a new prison job working with the Institutional Activity Coordinator, or IAC. Her job will involve taking photographs of women in general population and drug treatment. Gypsy is excited about the position because she has spent roughly a year and a half doing janitorial work as a dorm tender. She believes the new position will get her out more, help her interact with people, and allow her to develop new skills. “I'm gonna be like a photographer.” She says the woman involved in filling the position had seen her Dr. Phil appearance and other interviews and thought of Gypsy when looking for someone to fill the part-time opening. Later, Kristy reveals that she recently spoke with Ken on the phone. Kristy says they discussed his visit with Gypsy and his plans to move. Ken also apparently told Kristy about arriving for visitation and being recognized by the staff: “We know who you are, Ken. Just come right in.” That leads into another discussion about how closely Ken and Gypsy were watched during their reunion following his six-month visitation suspension. According to their conversation, officers repeatedly warned them about physical contact. Gypsy says one officer was particularly strict about exactly where their hands could be positioned while holding hands across the table. Kristy also says Ken told her that he “barely picked her up” during the visit. Gypsy laughs about their height difference and says she essentially fell over when he did it. The call ends with Kristy telling Gypsy she'll let Ken know that the two of them talked. #GypsyRoseBlanchard #GypsyRose #KristyBlanchard #GypsysRevenge #PrisonCalls #TheBlanchardFiles #TrueCrime #PrisonAudio #DeeDeeBlanchard #KenUrker #TrueCrimeCommunity #ChillicotheCorrectionalCenter
