This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this June 16, 2018 call, Gypsy Rose Blanchard speaks with Brian Minasco after he previously wrote her a letter. Gypsy admits that first phone calls can be awkward before asking Brian to tell her more about himself. Their conversation quickly becomes surprisingly personal. Gypsy discusses working toward her GED, struggling with math, completing her mandatory Impact of Crime on Victims class, and learning to take accountability for the victims created by her actions. She also talks about what she might do after her release, including potentially pursuing cosmetology. Gypsy also reflects on the fact that she had just reached the three-year mark of being incarcerated, saying the time had gone surprisingly fast and that staying busy helped her remain productive. The two bond over animals, including Brian's rescued dog Chewy and Gypsy's love for huskies. Gypsy explains that she hopes to eventually participate in the facility's dog-training program and says her family could potentially adopt a dog she becomes attached to. Later, the conversation takes a more emotional turn as Brian talks about losing several close friends when he was younger. Gypsy relates the conversation to her own difficult days and says the anniversary of her crime had occurred only days earlier. She explains that anniversaries like that make her want to cry and have someone to hold onto, while also feeling like other people may not understand what she's experiencing. By the end of their first conversation, Brian and Gypsy agree that they'd like to continue talking and corresponding with each other.
