This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this May 6, 2018 call, Gypsy reconnects with Tanya, also known as “Angel,” following their emotional face-to-face visit in April. Gypsy admits it took her some time to process everything Tanya revealed during that visit. She tells her it was overwhelming because it was the last thing she expected, but makes it clear that she wants Tanya in her life: “I want us to be friends.” “I want you to feel like you can start to get to know the real me.” Tanya admits she worried she'd overwhelmed Gypsy: “I probably scared the poor girl.” When she didn't hear from Gypsy for a while, Tanya thought the intensity of their conversation may have pushed her away. Gypsy assures her that wasn't the case. She simply needed time to process the emotions surrounding what Tanya had told her. “You’ve been in the back of my mind... forever.” There's an interesting moment where Tanya tells Gypsy: “You've been in the back of my mind for a long time.” Then she adds: “Not just lately, but forever.” Considering their history discussed in the April calls, that line stands out. Gypsy says Tanya's revelation wasn't strange to her, just incredibly unexpected and “deeply emotional.” Tanya talks about auditioning for Star Wars Tanya tells Gypsy she had been out of town auditioning and says one audition was connected to a new Star Wars movie. She says she wasn't selected for that production but had also auditioned for another sci-fi project. She also tells Gypsy she owns telecommunications and production companies and discusses traveling for work. I would present all of that specifically as what Tanya says in the call, not independently established fact. Gypsy says she's forgotten how to use a computer This is actually a fascinating little section. While talking about the upcoming tablets and video-visitation kiosk, Gypsy says that after roughly three years without regular computer access, she had forgotten basic computer skills: “How do I use a freaking keyboard?” She even says she couldn't remember how to make capital letters anymore. Tanya touched Gypsy's face during the visit This is probably the most interesting part for a thumbnail. Tanya brings up something that happened during their April visit. She says: “I put my hand around your cheek...” She says she forgot about the visitation rules and worried afterward that she'd gotten Gypsy in trouble. Gypsy tells her she didn't. Then Tanya says: “I just wanted to hold your smile in my hand.” Gypsy then tells Tanya she's looking forward to seeing her again and says she'd still like them to take a picture together. They plan another visit By the end, Tanya says her schedule may be open Friday and asks if Gypsy is expecting anyone else. Gypsy says no. Tanya says she'll see if she can come down that Friday. Their goodbye is very affectionate.
