Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

On July 13, 2018, Gypsy Rose Blanchard speaks with Kristy Blanchard from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, and Rod Blanchard briefly joins the conversation. Gypsy begins by explaining that she's finally preparing to work in the prison visitation photography department after an earlier scheduling problem prevented her from starting. She expects to photograph visitors during the afternoon sessions on Friday and Saturday, with Sunday potentially available depending on how quickly she learns the job. Kristy tells Gypsy that Rod has just returned home after travel complications forced an overnight stay in Miami. Gypsy also reveals that she's sent Kristy and Rod two new photographs, including one with Ken Urker from his recent visit. She specifically asks Kristy not to post one of the pictures on Facebook because she doesn't particularly like how it turned out. The conversation then moves to correspondence with friends and family. Gypsy discusses sending a card, speaking with Rachell Garlick while Rachell is visiting Texas, and an exchange involving Bryan and the prison's rules for mailing photographs. The discussion includes a reference to a “nasty letter,” although the exact meaning and speaker attribution should be checked against the original audio. Later, Gypsy tells Kristy she's hoping to move into her friend Courtney's room. She explains that ongoing roommate drama has made her current living arrangement unpleasant and that she believes moving next door would provide a better environment. Kristy also references concerns about other women taking Gypsy's belongings and reminds her to keep her things secured. Gypsy explains that she's also on the waiting list for the honor dorm, but she may not be eligible for a move until August 16. Rather than continue dealing with her current roommates, she hopes to move into Courtney's room while waiting for an opening. Near the end of the call, Kristy hands the phone to Rod. Gypsy welcomes him home, and Rod tells her he's happy to be back after the travel delays. He also mentions having a photograph of Gypsy with her boyfriend displayed at home. The conversation ends with Gypsy and Rod exchanging affectionate words. Although this July 13 call is mostly about everyday life, it provides another piece of the timeline surrounding Gypsy's relationships, prison friendships, and correspondence during the summer of 2018.
