This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this April 25, 2018 prison call, Gypsy Rose Blanchard catches up with her friend Rachel after the two haven't spoken for a while. Early in the conversation, Rachel explains a new way she's been sending pictures. That leads Gypsy to reveal that she had also sent Nick pictures. Gypsy then says she hasn't heard from him in a long time and offers her explanation: “That's probably 'cause I told him, like, I ain't in love with you. I'm never gonna be in love with you... because it's not gonna happen.” Rachel responds that Gypsy “killed his pride.” Rachel then tells Gypsy that she thinks her boyfriend is cute and says she had tried to post his picture, but Kristy removed it. Gypsy responds that they simply don't want the picture posted. The conversation moves into what's been happening in Rachel's life, including her relationship, children and plans to eventually visit Gypsy. Gypsy also tells Rachel about her new prison job, explaining that she's working at the picture place and learning how to take pictures: “I like it better than cleaning bathrooms.” The two reminisce about their time together. Rachel remembers Gypsy rolling around in the grass, playing with a hula hoop and an old home video of Gypsy and Dee Dee playing in the snow. Gypsy responds: “I embrace the kid in me.” Then the conversation gets a little more emotional. Gypsy tells Rachel: “I miss you so much... I mean, I miss us, like, hanging out in the yard and stuff.” She admits that she doesn't really go into the yard anymore and says: “I just need to get out of my comfort zone and start making some other friends besides you.” Toward the end, Gypsy tells Rachel that she has started ICVC, the Impact of Crime on Victims class we've been hearing about throughout these April calls. She says she's on chapter four and reveals something else we haven't heard much about: Before ICVC, Gypsy had completed anger management. That leads to another notable statement from Gypsy: “You can only push somebody so much before they snap.” She then explains that the point of anger management is teaching her “not to snap out on people.” The call ends with Rachel telling Gypsy she's there for her no matter what, and Gypsy saying she thinks she'll be calling Rachel much more often. #GypsyRoseBlanchard #PrisonCalls #NicholasGodejohn #TrueCrime #TheBlanchardFiles
