This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this May 1, 2018 call, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker catch up after Ken receives the card and pictures Gypsy sent him. Ken isn't feeling well because of what he believes are seasonal allergies, while Gypsy talks about what's happening with her new prison job and ICVC class. Gypsy says she's finishing the drunk-driving portion of ICVC, which she admits is difficult for her to relate to: “I've never had even one drop of alcohol in my life, nor have I ever driven in my life.” Her job is also changing. One of her coworkers has left, leaving Gypsy and one other woman responsible for the work. Gypsy says she'll now be taking pictures AND doing the paperwork. “It's gonna be more responsibility, and I'm so scared to fuck it up.” Ken encourages her and tells her she'll get better as she gains experience. Ken's pictures arrive Ken had sent Gypsy several pictures, including one with a cat named Whiskey sitting on his shoulder. Gypsy says she showed the pictures to her roommates and immediately explained that it wasn't Ken's cat because she knows Ken doesn't particularly like cats, while she does. Ken admits he took the picture specifically because he knows Gypsy likes them. There's also a picture of Ken with his former roommate Ryan. Ken explains that Ryan was the roommate he lived with when he first started writing Gypsy. Ken talks about moving to Missouri The Missouri move comes up again when Ken discusses having his wisdom teeth removed. He says he isn't planning to do it immediately: “It's not gonna be at least until like a few months after I move to Missouri.” That's noteworthy after everything from the 04/25, 04/26 and 04/27 calls. He's still talking about the move as something that is going to happen, rather than questioning whether he's going. The braces conversation 😂 Honestly, this might make the funniest thumbnail. Ken is considering braces after his dentist recommended them, but he's VERY conflicted about being an adult with braces. Eventually: “I'm not gonna be a 25-year-old dork with fucking braces.” Gypsy doesn't understand the problem and tells him she doesn't think braces look weird or dorky. She reassures him: “Even if you do choose to get them, I still love you and I will still kiss you.” Ken jokes that the day she refuses to kiss him is the day he'll have them taken out. #gypsyrose #gypsyroseblanchard #truecrime #kenurker
