This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this May 24, 2018 call between Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Kristy Blanchard, the conversation starts with preparations for upcoming visits from Kristy, Rod and Ken. Gypsy is filling out paperwork for special visits and asks Kristy to calculate the distance her family and Ken will be traveling. She is also excited about getting new shoes and talks about pictures she wants to take during the upcoming family visit. Kristy then tells Gypsy about texting Ken after learning that Kristy and Rod will visit the weekend before him. Gypsy had jokingly told Kristy to let Ken know that he could kiss her now, since Rod wouldn't be sitting there during Ken's visit. Kristy says Ken joked that Gypsy tells her everything, leading Kristy to explain how open she and Gypsy are with each other. But the most interesting part comes when Gypsy asks: “When is he gonna be able to move?” Kristy says she doesn't think Ken will be moving during this upcoming trip because his ticket is round-trip. That's when Gypsy reveals she's beginning to reconsider the plan. “I’m having kind of second thoughts. Not about the relationship, not about any of that...” Instead, Gypsy says she's trying to think about where Ken would actually be happiest. She knows his family lives in Austin, Texas, and wonders whether it would be better for him to hold off on moving to Missouri and eventually return to Texas. Kristy reminds her that Ken is an adult and that Gypsy never forced him to move. Gypsy admits: “I would be lying if I said that I didn't want you to move to Missouri to be closer to me.” But she says she also wants to do the “selfless thing” and let Ken go back to his family if that's really what he wants. Kristy agrees to talk to Ken and find out whether he is truly 100 percent committed to moving.
