This playlist documents an entire year of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's prison phone calls from 2018, organized chronologically so you can follow the conversations and events as they unfolded in real time. Throughout the year, you'll hear Gypsy's conversations with Kristy and Rod Blanchard, Ken Urker, family members, friends, supporters, and others in her life while she was incarcerated at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. These calls cover everything from ordinary day-to-day prison life and family updates to relationships, money, media coverage, documentaries, her criminal case, Dee Dee Blanchard, Nicholas Godejohn, future plans, and the public attention surrounding her story. Some calls are uneventful. Others contain details that become much more significant when viewed alongside later interviews, documentaries, public statements, and other records. Rather than focusing only on selected clips, this series is intended to preserve the larger context of the 2018 calls and allow viewers to hear how conversations, relationships, and stories developed throughout the year. The calls are presented chronologically, beginning in January 2018 and continuing through December 2018. Prison call recordings were obtained through a public-records request from the Missouri Department of Corrections and are being shared for commentary, documentation, research, and educational purposes.

In this short May 31, 2018 call between Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Kristy Blanchard, Kristy and Rod have officially arrived in Chillicothe, Missouri, ahead of their visit with Gypsy. Gypsy calls to find out whether they've arrived, and Kristy tells her they've already been there for several hours. That's when Gypsy says: “I got some bad news.” She quickly reassures them that they can still see her, but says the additional visitation session for the following day “didn't get approved.” Gypsy explains: “I’ve had my limit of how many I could have in a year.” She tells Kristy and Rod they can still have one session the following day and another on Saturday, so they'll still get plenty of time together. Kristy and Rod decide to take the afternoon session, which works perfectly for Gypsy because she admits: “I don’t like waking up in the morning. I’m not a morning person.” There's also a funny food conversation at the end. Kristy asks whether they can bring Gypsy anything to eat. Gypsy says food visits are back, but she intentionally didn't request one because inmates are limited to two food visits per year. Instead of using one on McDonald's, Gypsy says she wants to save it until Kristy and Rod drive up so they can bring her gumbo. Kristy jokes: “Don’t waste it on no freaking Big Mac.” The call ends with everyone saying they love each other and looking forward to seeing one another the following day. #GypsyRoseBlanchard #GypsyRose #KristyBlanchard #RodBlanchard #KenUrker #GypsyAndKen #GypsyRosePrisonCalls #PrisonPhoneCalls #PrisonCalls #ChillicotheMissouri #ChillicotheCorrectionalCenter #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #FOIA #TheBlanchardFiles
