I make more money than I ever have, and I have less than I did back then. I've been working since I was 13, and I actually sat down and did the math on this. It doesn't add up the way you'd think. Watch how it works. When you've got nothing, saving a thousand dollars sounds insane. Then you do it. Ten thousand is real if you grind a full year and don't slip. But a hundred thousand is a different universe. It takes years, and by the time you get there it's already worth less than when you started. Here's the part nobody says. Having nothing was easier than trying to build something. When I was broke I was honestly fine. You just live on what's in front of you. It's the second you try to actually get somewhere that you feel how far away it is. Trying is what hurts. Not being broke. And I'll admit this part too. You can't grind week after week with nothing to show for it and not go a little numb. So you let yourself have something small, and there goes the saving. Save forever with a bleak future, or spend a little and stay stuck. That's the trap. Twelve years in construction and I still can't see the finish. That's what more money bought me.
