The world turned grey and I noticed. Somewhere along the way they took the color out of everything, and I don't think we noticed what it was doing to us. Look at a parking lot now. It's greyscale. Cars used to come in real colors, greens and browns and deep reds, and now it's white, black, grey, silver, that's it. Every house on the street is white outside, white inside, grey floors. Back in the 90s every house had its own character. Now it's one bland palette everywhere you look. The buildings lost their detail too. Old buildings had trim and brick and character. New builds are just grey box after grey box. Even the logos and the clothes and the phones got flattened the same way. Every brand redesigned to look identical, stores full of beige and grey, everything black glass and aluminum with nothing bright left in it. And I actually think it's doing something to us. Blandness everywhere, all day, quietly. I think it drains something, creativity, a bit of life. The 90s felt vibrant and I miss feeling that.
