The only one who didn't leave was my dog. When my last relationship ended, I was told if I wanted a dog, a garden, a house, a life, I'd be doing it alone. So I did. Got him at eight weeks old right after the split. He's the most judgmental little dude, got a wicked side eye on him, but somehow doesn't actually judge me at all. Bad day, good day, doesn't matter, he's just happy I'm home. Friends have drifted, people I used to be close with grew apart from me. The one that's still around every single day is him.
