Something is off and nobody will say it out loud. I can't point at one thing. I just know things don't feel right and haven't for a while. Everybody's angrier now. Shorter fuses in the stores, on the roads, at work. Strangers start out hostile before a word gets said. You can feel it walking into a room. Everything costs more and it's not that I can't afford stuff, it's that I can't afford to do anything. Going out, doing something, that costs money now. Working the same and getting less. And the weeks just disappear. They go by so fast I couldn't tell you what happened in them. Nothing memorable enough to slow any of it down. The places I used to go closed. The spots emptied out. Nobody talks about what we lost, we just quietly go somewhere else or don't go anywhere at all. I'm not saying I know why. I don't. I'm saying I feel it and I don't think I'm the only one.
