I'd rather be alone than date again. That's not me being bitter. That's me doing the math on what it actually costs me. The apps drain everything out of you and give nothing back. You're not the customer on those things, you're the product. They don't make money when you meet somebody, they make money when you keep swiping. So they're built to keep you there. It doesn't feel like looking for a partner anymore. It feels like getting picked over. Like people are shopping for a possession instead of a person. Everybody's got standards that don't line up with anything real, because there's always somebody one swipe away who might be better. Then you match and talk and it just goes nowhere. Every time. No follow through from anybody. Nobody owes anybody a reply now so nobody gives one. And I've heard the advice about meeting people out in the world. Under one percent of people actually meet that way. I'm not walking around town for hours hoping something happens. So why would I keep doing something that drains me and gets me nowhere?
