I'm tired of doing everything alone. And I don't mean the lonely nights. I mean all of it. Every single thing. When you live on your own there's no such thing as "not my job." It's all your job. The laundry, the cooking, the dishes, the fridge, the cleaning. Then you walk outside and it's the yard, the garbage, the maintenance. All you. There's nobody to split it with and it never stops. It changes how you live too. You come home and it's not relax time, it's a checklist. Shower, take the dog out, cook, clean up, and do it fast because the night's almost gone. Your whole life goes from casual to rigid because everything has to get done and it all falls on you. I was with someone for eight years. We had things split up. She'd cook some nights, I'd cook others. When one person made dinner the other one got to actually breathe for a minute. That's not just romance. That's survival. That's two people keeping each other from drowning. And all this stuff they sell about doing it on your own, being independent, not needing anyone. Who's actually enjoying that? Nobody. They're just pretending because they don't have a choice. The part nobody talks about is nobody's looking out for you either. Nobody to notice you had a rough day. Nobody cooking you a meal. Nobody catching the thing you can't see yourself. I'm not tired because I'm weak. I'm tired because I'm doing the work of two people and there's no one to hand half of it to.
