Nobody lives anymore. We just work. And we've been convinced that's normal. I met a 72-year-old truck driver the other day who told me he'd rather keep working than retire — even though he knows he's only got a few good years of health left. That broke something in me. He should be living those years, not spending them on a job site. But he can't even imagine another way. None of us can anymore. That's the part nobody wants to admit. Work has become our entire identity. It's the first thing we talk about, the thing we give our best hours to, the thing we sacrifice our health and our relationships for. And for what? A 2.4% raise that doesn't even keep up with the cost of living. A company that would replace you the second it made sense for them. I leave the house at 6 AM and I'm not home until 6. By 7 I'm done — no energy to live, just enough to sleep and do it again. That's not a life. That's an existence built around making someone else money. We were tricked into believing this is all there is. Work until you're old, then retire, then die. I don't buy it anymore.
