I've lost interest in being around people. And I don't fully like admitting that, because it wasn't always this way. It's not that I decided people weren't worth it. It's that somewhere along the way I ran out of whatever it takes to be around them. I come home and I don't have it in me to see anyone. The idea of going out and making small talk just drains me before it even starts. I used to be able to do it. The chatting, the groups, the being social. Now it feels like work I don't have the energy for. And I've noticed I'll turn down things I would've said yes to a few years ago, and not even feel bad about it in the moment. Just relieved. The part that gets me is I don't think I actually want to be alone this much. I miss what it felt like to want to be around people. To look forward to it instead of bracing for it. I don't know when that switched off, but it did. Maybe it's burnout. Maybe I've just got nothing left over after the week takes its share. But I look up and realize I've quietly pulled away from almost everyone, and I'm not sure I know how to walk that back. Did you pull away from people, or did they pull away from you?
