On the 158th day I continued my journey by bus to Isfahan, the capital of Persia in the Safavid period. In Tehran there are 2 terminals with buses going to Isfahan. However, I recommend going from the South Terminal where there are more bus operators serving the Tehran-Isfahan route. Initially I tried from the terminal in the city center which only had 1 bus operator to Isfahan. It was fully booked. I continued to the south terminal. Again, buses were full. It's best to buy tickets for this popular route at least a day in advance. Luckily there was a bus that seemed to be going further south, -probably to Shiraz,- and we were able to get on that bus and got off at Isfahan. It's just that ticket price was more expensive, 3,400,000 Rials or around $7. To travel 440 km by VIP bus, if we got the right bus, the price should be half that. The bus left Tehran at 6pm. About 1 hour later we passed Qom, the center of Shia Islamic education in Iran. I was told that of the hundreds of Indonesians currently in Iran, the majority are students studying in this city. Half an hour later we stopped at a rest area for about 20 minutes. There were several restaurants for those who want to buy food. At 11:30 pm we arrived in the southern city of Isfahan and continued by taxi to the hostel. There I was greeted with Rupiah banknotes which indicated that Indonesians had previously stayed at this hostel.
