On the 207th day, I walked around Nuweiba in the morning before leaving by night bus to Cairo. Nuweiba is a port city that connects Egypt with Jordan. The government is developing the city into a resort town to take advantage of its location by the shores of the Red Sea. When I arrived in Nuweiba the previous night, I stayed in one of the cheap hostels near the harbor. Sinai mountains were visible in the background. In one popular theory, Nuweiba was the location of the ancient Israelites' Red Sea crossing described in the Bible. It suits the geographical depiction of the story: A canyon that leads to the edge of the Red Sea with a plain where hundreds of thousands of people could set up camps. In the afternoon, I said goodbye to my new friend, Uri, from Barcelona. He continued to Dahab to enjoy the Red Sea resort there. I took a bus to Cairo. It departed at 4 p.m. and would take 12 hours to Cairo. I paid 350 Egyptian Pounds for the bus ticket even though the price could be lower if you could haggle. We drove through the canyons and mountains of Sinai, then through the southern edge of the Sinai Peninsula. The bus stopped in every city. For example, the bus stopped in Dahab, which was much more developed than Nuweiba. The bus drove through the Suez Canal and entered the African continent. At 2:30 a.m., I arrived in Cairo and said goodbye to another new friend, Mo.
