On the 159th day, during the day, I continued walking around Naqsh-e Jahan, the largest square in the world when it was built in 1598 by Abbas the Great, the Safavid king who moved the Persian capital to Isfahan. Of the three main buildings in this complex, I only chose to enter the Ali Qapu Palace because I could climb to the upper floors to view Naqsh-e Jahan square from above. As a former royal palace which functioned to welcome royal guests, it was decorated with mosaics and many paintings, some of which are still preserved today.
