On day 179 I explored the Dubai Expo 2020 complex before continuing my journey to Abu Dhabi by public bus. Dubai Expo 2020 is a World Expo which were held in late 2021 to early 2022 due to being postponed by COVID-19 pandemic. Usually after a World Expo is over, the complex is dismantled. But, currently only part of it is being dismantled because this complex will be used again for COP28 at the end of November 2023. COP is a global stakeholder conference to mitigate the adverse consequences of climate change. While touring the complex, I saw several pavilions that were still standing, such as the Egyptian and Chinese pavilions. I was surprised by the existence of a pavilion with the word "Jerusalem". Is this the Israeli pavilion in the UAE? It turns out that this pavilion belongs to Palestine. Unfortunately I couldn't enter because almost all the pavilions had closed after Dubai Expo 2020 is finished. If I'm not mistaken, only 7 pavilions remain open and they require an entry ticket. I continued walking around the complex and returned to the hotel to collect my backpack and continue my journey. To go to Abu Dhabi, there are public buses from the terminal in front of Ibn Battuta Mall. The price of a bus ticket to Abu Dhabi is 25 dirhams or around USD 7. The bus leaves every 20 minutes and exit through Ibn Battuta Gate. The bus drove south, through the southern outskirts of Dubai and the desert. Two hours later the bus arrived at Abu Dhabi Main Bus Terminal. Here the Dubai transportation card, Nol Card, could not be used so I had to buy an Abu Dhabi transportation card, Halifat Card, for 10 dirhams ($3). From the terminal I continued by bus (2 dirhams) to my accommodation.
