On the 172nd day, I took a night bus to Bandar Abbas, a port city that connects to the Arabian Peninsula. The bus was scheduled to arrive at dawn so I had time to catch the ferry to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The trip began at 1:30 pm from Ahvaz Terminal, Khuzestan. The traffic was congested because there was a big demonstration in support of Palestine. After leaving the city, the bus traveled along the southern side of Iran which is full of oil wells. Towards sunset, the southern causeway intersected with the Persian Gulf. Unfortunately, even though the beach was only 1 kilometer from the road, I could not see the sea because the fog was relatively thick. At 5:30 am I arrived at Bandar Abbas and went straight to Bahonar port. But there I was told that today's ferry departure was canceled because of the bad weather over the Persian Gulf. After buying a ticket for the next departure on Monday, I continued walking along the beach, until finally I saw Hormuz Island in the distance. On the beach there were many cafes and restaurants. I stopped at Nahang and tried the $3 burger. It was pretty good. I also chatted briefly with the waiter who turned out to be from Afghanistan. In Iran there were many immigrants from Afghanistan.
