On the afternoon of the 209th day, I walked east of Cairo towards Mansheya Nasir, a Christian district known as Garbage City. Supposedly, tens of thousands of Zabbaleen (garbage collectors) who live here are Coptic Christians. There is the Coptic monastery of St. Simon with a church carved from the rock on the city's edge, on the Mokattam hill. There is even a church located underground. According to local legend, Mokattam Hill was moved to this place by a miracle performed by St. Simon the Tanner (10th-century saint), who proved the truth of the Gospel to Caliph Muiz. After sunset, I returned home to my accommodation in Giza.
