PURPLE EYES is a Warhammer 40K inspired Cadian remembrance song told through a Sister of Battle who can never completely leave Cadia behind. Cadians are known for their distinctive purple or violet eyes, a legacy associated with generations raised beneath the Eye of Terror. For a Cadian-born Adepta Sororitas, much of an old life can disappear beneath faith, training, duty and service to the Emperor — but some things remain written plainly across the face. And Cadia is gone. This song is about what remains after loss: the strange distance between you and people who understand what happened, but cannot quite understand what it did to you. The word “home” still returns. Memories arrive without permission. Ordinary conversations suddenly hurt for reasons nobody around you intended. Then she sees another pair of purple eyes. Nothing is restored. Cadia does not return. The grief does not disappear. But another person looks back who has seen something similar, carries something similar, and needs no explanation.
