The Necromancer’s Field Guide: Zombies, Zombies, Zombies is a darkly comedic Gothic military waltz inspired by Helman Ghorst notes on raising the dead and the undead armies of Warhammer Fantasy, and the haunted lands of the World-that-Was. An older necromancer instructs his silent class of novices in the practical application of the dark arts. Cursed manual refusing to cooperate? Zombies. Castle too expensive? March the local churchyard around its walls and ask the steward’s price again. Bridge washed away? Add zombies until the river develops a floor. Enemy knights charging toward you? Compliment their lord for delivering tomorrow’s reinforcements. Whatever the trouble, the remedy remains consistent: Zombies. And if the remedy should fail? More zombies. Musically, this is a fast-building Transylvanian Gothic waltz with church organ, hammered dulcimer, low strings, marching drums and an increasingly frantic undead crescendo. It begins as an ominous lesson and grows into a manic field-manual anthem. Use it while painting Vampire Counts, building undead miniatures, kitbashing necromancers, playing Total War: Warhammer, preparing a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, writing dark fantasy, gaming, studying questionable necromantic doctrine or simply raising another hundred zombies.
