Ten thousand years ago, the Emperor handed one of His Custodians a simple metal cup and gave him one instruction: hold it until further notice. Then came the Siege of Terra. Horus attacked, the Imperial Palace burned, and the Emperor was mortally wounded and placed upon the Golden Throne. Further notice never came. The Emperor’s Cup is an Imperial Guard drinking song about the legend of one impossibly disciplined Custodian who has supposedly stood in the Palace for ten thousand years, still holding the same cup because the Emperor never personally told him to put it down. The Adeptus Custodes are the Emperor’s personal guardians: towering golden warriors created to defend Him and the Imperial Palace with absolute loyalty. Which makes them perfect subjects for Guardsmen who are simultaneously deeply impressed by them and incapable of resisting a good joke. Through the centuries, even Alicia Dominica and Roboute Guilliman get their chance to speak with the Emperor. Surely one of them could ask about the cup? Apparently not. So the Guardsmen do the only decent thing they can: Raise it up! Raise your cup for him! Suitable accompaniment for: yard work, drinking, singing along, painting miniatures, kitbashing, working, repairing things, travelling, lifting weights, working out, or simply raising a cup for the Custodian who cannot raise his own.
