Still I Serve is a Warhammer 40K inspired song about one of the simplest and darkest ideas at the heart of the Imperium of Man: Service does not necessarily end when the body does. A soldier serves while there is still a weapon in his hands. A servant of the Machine God may surrender flesh piece by piece until duty and machinery become almost impossible to separate. A Space Marine can fall after centuries of war only to awaken entombed within a Dreadnought and be called upon once more. And above them stands another kind of service entirely. The verses of Still I Serve move upward through the Imperium: from the ordinary Imperial Guardsman, to the Adeptus Mechanicus, to the Adeptus Astartes and finally to Sanguinius. Each has been given a different body, a different burden and a different reason to continue. For some, service is demanded. For some, it becomes all that remains. And for some, even knowing the cost, it is still freely chosen. That is why the same words return after every life: Still I serve. A song for the countless human beings, machines, warriors and legends who carry the Imperium forward in whatever capacity remains to them.
