A God Named Nurgle is a dark ritual hymn inspired by Nurgle, the Chaos God of decay, disease, despair and inevitable decline. Grandfather does not need to chase you. Time already does that for him. The body ages. The wound leaves its mark. The wall cracks. The metal rusts. Flesh changes whether you accept it or not. You can clean the wound, burn the rot, rebuild the wall and fight for another day — but eventually, everything yields. That is the accusation at the heart of this song. You call resistance courage. You call suffering virtue. You teach others to fear age, scars, sickness, decay and death. You convince yourself that if you struggle hard enough, permanence can somehow be won. Nurgle says otherwise. To him, your resistance does not defeat decay. It only prolongs your suffering. Every scar, every ache and every year written into your body is evidence of a law that does not care whether you accept it. Fight it. Delay it. Deny it. Teach others to do the same. Grandfather has time. And when resistance finally collapses into despair, even that despair feeds him. Only then comes the embrace. YIELD. The Ultramarine portrayed in the video is intended to represent Sergeant Castus from Daemonblood — an Ultramarine who fell into the service of Nurgle before ultimately turning against the corruption that claimed him.
