Feed The Angels, Mamma Mia Here They Come! — an Imperial Guard kitchen anthem about the most important battle nobody remembers: feeding the Emperor’s Angels. Somewhere behind the front lines, Chef-Captain Vittorio Bellamonte commands the field kitchens of the Bellamontian 88th “Regimento della Tavola”, an Astra Militarum regiment whose culinary traditions are taken almost as seriously as warfare. Bellamonte has rules: The pasta is served hot. The sauce stays off the rim. Nothing leaves his kitchen unless it is worthy of the regiment. And every proper member of his kitchen brigade must maintain a magnificent moustache. The Departmento Munitorum has occasionally raised questions concerning hygiene. Chef Bellamonte has occasionally ignored them. Then word reaches the kitchen: A Space Marine is coming to eat. For the head chef, this is not a problem. This is his moment. One of the Emperor’s Angels of Death is about to sit at HIS table, eat HIS pasta, and judge HIS kitchen. Aprons straight. Knives sharp. Sauce hot. Tonight, they feed the Angels. Unfortunately, nobody warned the cooks exactly how much an Adeptus Astartes might require. One Angel tests their food, as the rest wait and the staff forgets entirely that there is more to feed. Mamma mia! Pasta Militarum follows the increasingly frantic Imperial Guard kitchen crew as ordinary service becomes a full military operation: pasta boiling, grox disappearing, tomorrow’s supplies becoming today’s supplies, cooks shouting HEARD and HOT BEHIND, plates being wiped to perfection, and the entire brigade desperately trying to make sure an Ultramarine receives a meal worthy of the Emperor. Because even in the grim darkness of the far future, somebody still has to cook dinner.
