Did you ever hear the tragedy of Thanquol the Wise? No? Of course not. The Necrons were hoping to keep it that way. Somewhere during his endless search for things that absolutely belong in a museum, Trazyn the Infinite makes a rather unusual expedition through the Warp and discovers a world containing something he has never catalogued before. A rat. Not merely a rat, of course. Grey Seer Thanquol. Mastermind. Sorcerer. Chosen servant of the Great Horned Rat. Greatest living Skaven genius, according to the most reliable authority available: Thanquol himself. Naturally, Trazyn collects him. And so Thanquol becomes the newest acquisition of the Prismatic Galleries of Solemnace. This proves to be a mistake. Because Thanquol does not understand that he is an exhibit. As far as Thanquol is concerned, an immortal metallic overlord has crossed realities specifically to recognize his obvious greatness. Solemnace therefore cannot possibly be a prison. It is his new domain. What follows is a guided tour that Trazyn never agreed to give. Thanquol runs through the galleries, touches things that should never be touched, pushes things that have remained perfectly positioned for millennia, investigates Necron machinery, interferes with stasis displays, steals anything sufficiently shiny, and eventually discovers that Trazyn has a perfect clone of Fulgrim standing preserved in his collection. Obviously, Thanquol climbs on it. Somewhere in the middle of all this, an ancient Necron Overlord who has survived millions of years of galactic history begins to discover an entirely new emotion: regret. And if anyone is wondering why Thanquol knows what an airlock door looks like, then you have clearly underestimated his intelligence. As most do. This is SPACE RAT — a fast theatrical villain waltz about the meeting nobody asked for: Thanquol and Trazyn the Infinite, Skaven and Necrons, Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000. Will Trazyn successfully remove Thanquol from Solemnace? Will Thanquol interpret being thrown into space as another brilliant victory? Will Clan Scruten launch a rescue mission, or simply claim that everything happened according to plan? Could Boneripper fit through a Necron dimensional portal? Can the Necrons survive something worse than the War in Heaven: a Skaven loose in a museum? Only the Great Horned Rat knows. And Thanquol. Thanquol definitely knows.
