The Sisters of Battle are being overrun. Chaos cultists have flooded the approaches to their position, and the main entrance can no longer be held by conventional means. If the enemy breaks through, the remaining Sisters and the defensive line behind them will be lost. Sister Clarice takes one of their melta bombs. There is no guarantee that simply throwing the charge into the horde will work. It could fail to trigger, be damaged, or be cast aside before detonation. So the Sisters jury-rig the device with a simple manual trigger. Clarice knows what that means. She cannot reach the main entrance from below. There are too many cultists already pressing against it. Instead, she climbs to the roof of the cathedral above their defensive position, holds the melta bomb against her chest, and prepares to fall directly into the mass gathering outside. Her prayer is not that the Emperor saves her. She asks only to be carried far enough. Far enough that she is not shot down in the air. Far enough that the charge remains in her hands. Far enough so she does not hit the building. Far enough that she reaches the ground before pressing the trigger.
