Welcome back to the Kinlaig Farm Estate Timelapse. We continue the large-scale red beet harvest, but this episode brings an unexpected challenge. After the hired worker script fails to function correctly on the new harvester, we are forced to completely reorganize the harvesting workflow. Previously, both harvesters operated independently under hired worker control while we focused entirely on logistics—using a tractor with a transfer trailer to collect harvested beets and loading truck trailers for transport to the canning factory. With the automation failure disrupting the system, we switch to a new strategy. The two harvesters are repositioned into a synchronized working pair, operating one behind the other with a slight offset. We personally control the lead harvester, while hired workers manage the second harvester and the transfer tractor. This workaround keeps both machines harvesting continuously and prevents downtime despite the scripting issue. Using the updated system, we successfully complete the red beet harvest and continue transporting the crop to the canning factory for processing. However, the operation heavily impacts the budget. Between equipment costs and hired worker wages, the farm account briefly drops into negative balance. To recover financially, we immediately sell 200,000 liters of compost, restoring positive cash flow and stabilizing the operation once again.
