Welcome back to the Kinlaig Farm Estate Timelapse. The expansion into forestry and manufacturing continues. After purchasing a new forest plot and a furniture workshop in the previous episode, we return to the woods to secure more raw materials. Using the wood harvester, we process another section of timber and create a stockpile of logs ready for transport. Once enough logs are collected, they are loaded onto a timber trailer and delivered to the sawmill, ensuring a steady supply of lumber for future production and construction projects. With forestry work complete, we switch gears and move into crop harvesting. A field of green peas near our newly acquired property has reached maturity. Since peas are not currently part of our long-term crop rotation plans, we decide not to invest in a dedicated harvester and instead rent a combine specifically for this job. The pea harvest quickly proves to be more challenging than expected. The combine has a narrow working width, a small grain tank, and a low unloading auger that doesn't work well with standard grain trailers. To solve the problem, we deploy a tractor equipped with a transfer trailer, creating a custom harvesting workflow. After some trial and error, the operation becomes efficient. The combine unloads into the transfer trailer, which then transfers the peas into truck trailers for transport. Throughout the harvest, we also keep an eye on hired workers who continue cultivating and sowing fields elsewhere on the farm. Once the field is finished, the harvested peas are delivered directly to the point of sale.
